5 Reasons Why You Should Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone

November 8, 2016

As human beings, we are creatures of habit. We all enjoy adhering to a personal routine that gives us a sense of comfort, familiarity, security and certainty. Seeking comfort is a completely natural instinct, but unfortunately, at some point or another in our life, we all come across challenges that force us to push our limits and take risks. It can be as simple as taking a fashion risk, or as frightening as when I made the decision to leave my hometown in order to move to California. That is why it is essential to, not only learn to manage these times of stress, but also willfully push ourselves into situations that might seem unpropitious. To grow, we all need to sometimes step outside of our comfort zone. As a blogger, I enjoy experimenting with different trends. I purposely wear pieces that I initially wouldn’t necessarily be drawn to – like this dramatic, billowy top that, at first glance, seemed very imposing. Even though it is quite a dramatic blouse, experimenting with something so different then my usual style is what personally makes styling so continuously exciting for me.

So in an attempt to inspire my readers in taking more risks, here are 5 reasons why you should not to be afraid to step out of your comfort zone.

1. Your life experience will be fuller

Because life isn’t about experiencing exclusively what you’re comfortable with. Because the greatest things will happen when you learn to take risks. And because, if you don’t try you’ll never know what could have happened. So go out there and don’t be afraid to experience new things.

2. You will be that much closer to achieving your goals

Because nothing is ever accomplished by playing it safe. Because by taking risks, doors of opportunity will open. Because nothing comes easy and hard work is how you obtain results.

3. No regrets

Because you’ll only regret the things you didn’t do. Because failures are only growth experiences in disguise. Because in the end, you rather have “oh well’s” rather than “what if’s ».

4. You will be more confident

Because by doing something nerve-racking, you realize that there is so much more that you can do.  Because by taking on on bigger tasks, you will feel a sense of accomplishment and therefore feel more confident.

5. You will inspire others

Because by taking action today and being that person you envision to be, you will instantly radiate happiness and inspire others to do the same.

So stop being afraid of failure, afraid of what other people will think of you, afraid of the unknown and say “yes” — because knows? It might just end up being the best decision you’ve ever made.
