We’re all guilty of doing it; making numerous resolutions every 1st of January (whether it be traveling more, getting in shape, eating healthier food…. and the list could on forever) that, let’s face it, are most probably the same goals we had on our list last year. It has become this sort of strange tradition we’ve all adopted. But I say enough of that « new year, new me » crap. Because even though many of us would like to turn the page on 2016 for good, the reality is most of the population will never keep up with those New Year’s objectives. For that reason, I’m not the biggest fan of New Year’s resolutions and I personally never really make any of my own. However, I am a fan of having a fresh start. And by that I mean being able to look at life from a new and different perspective.
A fresh start allows me to clear my head of whatever has been holding me back. It helps me focus on the future, focus on the objectives I’ve been trying to achieve and eliminate all negative aspects of my life that might be delaying those goals. For me, each morning where I wake up is an opportunity in itself to be the best person I can be. So don’t worry if the first week of 2017 hasn’t exactly gone as planned. See every day as a brand new start.
Personally, my favorite part of New Year is being able to reflect on the last 365 days of my life. Now I know 2016 did not have the best reputation (for obvious reasons), but for my husband and I, it truly was a pivotal moment in our lives. We left everything behind to move to California where a whole new world suddenly unraveled in front of us. We celebrated our second year of wedded bliss. I dyed my hair for the first time in over 13 years. We traveled to Los Angeles, Miami, Napa Valley, Vegas and several different cities. And last, but definitely not least, 2016 was the year where I started my blog and truly invested myself in this online community. Through this journey, I’ve met a multitude of talented artists and collaborated with so many wonderful brands that I love and admire. Looking back, 2016 was definitely THE most magical and outstanding year of my life. I’m so grateful for what this year has brought me and I cannot wait to see what 2017 has in store…
World, bring it on!
