Summer is officially here and to start off my favorite season on the right foot, I thought I’d share what I’ve been doing to spice up my summer this year and make it that much sweeter.
Be a tourist in your own town
When you live somewhere long enough, you start taking it for granted and it seems to stop being an interesting destination. However, if you become aware of your surroundings, you might just realize your city has a lot more to offer than you think. Go see your town’s landmarks, explore a new exhibition at a local museum, visit a new café/restaurant that just opened, or in my case a new candy store to satisfy my sweet tooth.
Have a staycation
Now for those of you who might be unfamiliar with the term, a staycation is « a vacation spent in one’s home country rather than abroad. » Last weekend, my husband and I decided to treat ourselves to a night in the beautiful Palace Hotel in San Francisco. It was just the perfect way to spice up our weekend and break free from our routine without breaking the bank (no pun intended).
Eat breakfast in bed
Breakfast is definitely my favorite meal of the day and what better way to have it than in the comfort of a bed? My husband and I starting making french toast together on Saturdays and it has quickly became part of our weekend morning routine. My favorite way to have it is with raspberries and authentic Canadian maple syrup, because you can simply never have too much sugar.
Go to networking events
Networking is not a one-time thing and therefore, summer is no excuse to stop making contacts. Instead of binge watching that new TV series on Netflix next Thursday night, try attending a networking event. I made it a personal goal to attend at least two per month. Not only has it allowed me to discover new places and meet amazing people, it also allowed me to increase my confidence by pushing myself to talk to people I don’t know.
